ANATEL Certification

Details
I. Introduction to Certification
ANATEL was established in 1997 and is mainly responsible for approving telecommunication products to meet quality and safety standards as well as the technical functions of the regulations. Almost all telephone products that transmit radio frequencies or connect to public telephone networks and use lithium batteries must be approved by the agency. This certification and approval process ensures that consumers continue to use these products in compliance with all relevant quality and safety regulations.
Ii. Certification Categories
Three types of telecommunications equipment require mandatory certification:
Type I
Terminal devices connected to the Fixed Conversion Telephone Service (FSTS) network through endpoints;
2. Equipment for connecting private telecommunications networks to FSTS networks;
3. Devices connected to the FSTS network for the purpose of providing value-added services.
It includes: mobile phones, satellite phones, VOIP phones, mobile phone batteries, mobile phone charging cables, telephone signal cables, and modems.
Type II
Any equipment using radio that is not covered by Type I, such as low-voltage devices, unauthorized equipment and antennas.
It includes: television and radio antennas, receivers, transmitters, wireless network equipment, and radio frequency automation equipment.
Type III
Any device not covered by Type I or II and subject to the rules and regulations of ANATEL.
Including: optical cables, cable connectors, and mobile network signal transmitters.
Iii. Required Documents
1. Information and documents of the applicant (The applicant is a local company in Brazil. If there is no GTG, local representative services can be provided)
2. Manufacturer's ISO 9001 certificate
3. Portuguese instruction manual
4. Technical Specification sheet
5. Application Form
6. Nameplate
7. Fixed-frequency software
Iv. Certification Process
Based on the product information provided by the customer, determine the product certification category and the requirements for the prototype
2. Mail the samples to GTG. After GTG receives the samples, it will conduct a pre-test (testing the EMC and RF parts).
If there are any issues with the sample pre-test, we will communicate with the customer to make rectifications. If the pre-test is qualified, the samples will be mailed to the local laboratory in Brazil
4. The local testing laboratory in Brazil tests the samples and issues a test report
5. The OCD (i.e. Certificate Of Conformity, abbreviated as CoC) issues the CoC certificate
6.OCD submits the CoC Certificate and the test report issued by the local testing laboratory in Brazil to the government agency Anatel to apply for the Certificate of Homologation (abbreviated as CoH).
7.Anatel issues the CoH certificate
8.GTG will provide the customer with electronic versions of the test report, CoC and CoH certificates
V. Validity Period of the Certificate
Certificate validity period: 2 years for Class I, 2 years for Class II, and 3 years for Class III.
Vi. Precautions
All products on the list published by ANATEL need to be certified.
2. Certificate/Authorized holder (importer) The manufacturer needs to be legally confirmed in Brazil;
3. The user manual, installation guide and warning signs must be in Portuguese. Other documents can be in English.
4. When products are exported to Brazil, the ANATEL certification mark (as shown in the following figure) + ANATEL certification number (this number is the CoH certificate number and can be obtained from the CoH certificate) needs to be added.
Vii. Regulations on the Use of Logos
Certified products need to reflect the ANATEL mark. If the product does not have the conditions to reflect it, the mark and code should be reflected in the instruction manual. The minimum height of the ANATEL logo needs to be greater than 4mm, and the full height of the ANATEL text needs to be greater than 1mm. The ANATEL logo comes in various styles. The following picture is one of the prescribed styles.
The format of the product identification code is "HHHHH-AA-FFFFF", where HHHHH is a product certification code consisting of 5 letters or numbers, AA is a 2-digit code indicating the year of certification issuance, and FFFFF is a 5-digit code marking the product manufacturer.
Viii. What are the advantages and reasons for choosing GTG to cooperate with Anatel Certification?
1.GTG directly cooperates with the local OCD in Brazil (i.e., the CoC certificate issuing authority), offering favorable prices
2.GTG can conduct pre-tests for customer samples, avoiding test failures upon sample arrival in Brazil, which could lead to the need to re-send samples or incur retesting fees
3.GTG professional engineers can assist clients in preparing relevant materials. For instance, if clients can provide testing software, the testing engineers can help clients write an English version of the operation SOP, saving them time
4. In terms of the cycle, GTG has established a close cooperative relationship with OCD. During the case certification process, it follows up on the progress 24 hours a day to ensure the normal operation of the project and obtain evidence as soon as possible
