WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive (2002/96/EC)
Scrapped electronic and electrical equipment, as defined in Directive 75/442/EEC," waste" A detailed definition was made and modified in Directive 91/156/EEC. Scrapping actually refers to all categories of products in Annex I of the WEEE Directive. Even if the product has not reached the end of its service life, as long as it is discarded by consumers, it is regarded as waste.
Scope of application
The WEEE Directive applies to the following electronic and electrical products: large household appliances, small household appliances, information technology and remote communication equipment, user equipment, lighting equipment, electrical and electronic tools (except large static industrial tools), toys, leisure and sports equipment, medical equipment (except all implanted and infected products), monitoring and control devices, and vending machines. This directive will apply without contracting the EU's laws on safety and health requirements and the EU's special regulations on waste management. War materials such as equipment, weapons and military supplies related to the protection of the important security interests of EU member states are not subject to this Directive.
“"Electronic and electrical equipment" (WEEE) refers to equipment and devices that fall under the categories listed in Table 2, are designed to operate with an AC voltage not exceeding 1000V and a DC voltage not exceeding 1500V, and rely on current or electromagnetic fields for normal operation, as well as equipment for generating, transmitting and measuring these currents and magnetic fields. “ "Electronic and electrical waste" (WEEE) refers to electronic or electrical equipment defined as waste in accordance with Article 1 (a) of EU Directive 75/442/EEC, including all components, parts and consumables that are discarded as part of the product.
