GEMS Certification
Details

1. Introduction to Certification

In order to improve the energy efficiency of electrical equipment and products in various industries (residential, commercial and industrial), and improve significant economic and environmental benefits, Australia and New Zealand have issued Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012 (GEMS for short) , and came into effect on October 1, 2012. The new GEMS regulations not only cover the previous main policies: mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), Energy Efficiency Labels (ERLS) and Equipment Energy Efficiency Programs (E3), but also expand energy efficiency to reduce greenhouse gases The scope of emission and energy efficiency improvement guides enterprises and consumers to make optimal choices from the perspective of the lowest operating cost throughout the product life cycle.

GEMS certification is a compulsory certification. Products under control must have GEMS certification before they can be sold in the market, and the applicant must be a company registered locally in Australia. Applicants cannot select a single state to register, but to register with the Australian Regulator.
