CB Certification

Details
I. Introduction to Certification
The IECEE-CB system is a global mutual recognition system for the safety test results of electrical products established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 's Organization for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrical Products (IECEE), with the aim of reducing international trade barriers caused by the need to meet the certification or approval criteria of different countries. The CB system, in accordance with the IEC safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards for relevant electronic and electrical equipment approved by IECEE, has achieved mutual recognition of test results for 19 major categories of electrical products, including information electrical equipment, household appliances, and medical electrical equipment.
Making the product safety test results of electronic and electrical equipment globally accepted is the foundation of the CB system. After the successful completion of the test, a CB test certificate and the corresponding CB test report will be issued to the product. These two documents together form a pass, with which manufacturers can apply for global certification from any national-level certification body in any country or region participating in the CB system, and usually no additional tests are required.
Ii. Product Scope
At present, the CB system covers 14 major categories and 180 types of products, including electronic game devices, test equipment, power supply cables, capacitors and components, lighting, household appliances, protective devices, transformers, office and IT equipment, AV equipment, and medical devices.

Iv. Test Items
Electrical strength test, stability test, insulation resistance test, label durability test, power cord tensile test, limit current LCC test, impact test, temperature rise test, normal/abnormal test, etc. The specific test items are adjusted according to the actual samples and the application standards of the samples.
V. Required Documents
Application Form
2. Circuit schematic diagram, PCB Layout diagram
3. Nameplate
4. English instruction manual
5. Key Components List (CDF)
6. Trademark Declaration (If Any)
7. Transformer and inductor specification sheets
8. Model List (Series)
9. Product photos
10. Safety test report in compliance with standards
Vi. Certification Process
1. Apply for Application
(1) Determine customer information;
(2) Fill out the CB application form;
(3) Provide specification sheets and other materials.
2. Quotation: Determine the test time and corresponding cost based on the provided information.
3. Payment: After the applicant confirms the quotation, they shall sign the application form for case filing and the service agreement and Pay the project fee.
4. Sample delivery: The customer sends the sample.
5. Testing: The laboratory conducts CB certification tests on the applied products in accordance with relevant testing standards.
6. Report Report, test passed, CB report completed.
7. Certification: Submit the report to the certification body (NCB). After passing the review, a CB certificate will be issued.
Vii. Certification Cycle and Validity Period
The CB certification cycle is 4 to 5 weeks
There is no explicit regulation on the validity period of CB certification, but the NCB(National Certification Body) usually raises objections to CB certificates that have been issued for more than three years.
Viii. Factory Inspection
CB certification does not require factory inspection
Ix. Precautions
1. Regarding the application for a CB test certificate, the following points should be noted
(1) The application for a CB test certificate can be submitted by the applicant to any "issuing/approving" NCB covering the product range.
(2) The applicant can be either a manufacturer or an entity authorized to represent the manufacturer.
(3) The application may include one or more factories that produce the product in one or more countries.
(4) Applicants/manufacturers/factories located in countries without IECEE member bodies need to pay an additional fee of 150 Swiss francs for each CB test certificate to compensate for the operating costs of the system. This fee is collected by the NCB that accepts the application for the CB test certificate and will be deposited into IECEE's account.
(5) The applicant may request the NCB to test the products based on the national differences of the countries to which they are sold.
2. For manufacturers to obtain product certification in the target market, the following procedures are involved:
(1) Submit an application to the NCB of the target country;
(2) CB test certificate;
