1. Introduction to Certification
Mozambique's National Institute of Communications (INCM) has announced the granting of a license to operate in Mozambique to the American internet service provider Starlink. INCM stated that the granting of the license will bring great benefits to the Mozambican information and communication technology ecosystem, and that the data transmission services provided by Starlink will complement other services available on the market, without replacing existing technologies.
SpaceX said that while most satellite Internet services rely on satellites in orbit about 35,000 kilometers from Earth, the Starlink constellation is closer, at about 550 kilometers, reducing the data transmission time between users and satellites.
The SpaceX satellite internet pilot is currently available in 16 countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Austria, Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Poland and Portugal.
